Core Principles of Responsible Off-Roading
Explore our FAQs to quickly access key insights on off-road education, safety, and environmental stewardship.
What standards does AORSI set for off-road education?
AORSI establishes nationwide benchmarks for off-road education, focusing on safety, ethics, environmental stewardship, and skill development. These standards guide educational institutions, organizations, and groups that teach and promote responsible off-roading practices.
How can I get certified through AORSI programs?
Certification is available to organizations dedicated to educating the public and promoting safe off-road practices. Each certification is valid for a period of five years, after which a reevaluation is conducted to ensure continued compliance with safety and educational standards.
Why is environmental responsibility important in off-road training?
Environmental responsibility is a vital part of off-road training because it ensures that trails, natural habitats, and public lands remain open and accessible for future generations. Off-road activities, when done carelessly, can lead to soil erosion, water pollution, habitat destruction, and the loss of recreational access. By teaching riders how to minimize their impact through practices like staying on designated trails, preventing unnecessary damage, and respecting wildlife, off-road training promotes sustainability and preserves the natural beauty that makes the experience possible.
Does AORSI offer resources for instructors?
AORSI provides instructors with a range of resources designed to support consistent, high-quality education across programs. These include training and certification guidelines, standardized curriculum frameworks, lesson materials, and access to a library of best practices, safety checklists, and teaching aids. Instructors also benefit from continuing education opportunities such as workshops and webinars, along with a professional network for collaboration and peer support.
